Summary

Idaho Bees (idahobees.com) is a personal, non-commercial beekeeping journal. It does not sell anything and does not run advertising. A small number of cookies and localStorage keys are used for analytics and to remember your display preferences. You can disable any of them in your browser without breaking the site.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. It can be read back later to remember something about you — a preference, a session, or an anonymous visitor ID. localStorage works the same way but is stored by the browser without an expiry.

Cookies & storage used on this site

Functional (always on, no tracking)

  • ib-theme — localStorage key that remembers whether you picked light or dark theme with the 🌓 button. No personal data.
  • ib-a11y — localStorage key that remembers your accessibility toggles (high contrast, larger text, reduce motion, link highlighting, dyslexia-friendly font). No personal data.

Analytics (third-party)

  • Google Analytics 4 (property G-X4PMRSSS02) — sets cookies prefixed _ga and _ga_X4PMRSSS02 to measure page views, referrers, and rough session behavior. IP addresses are anonymized by Google. Data expires after 14 months.
    Opt out: install the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on or block third-party cookies.
  • Microsoft Clarity (project wcxs8sssra) — sets cookies prefixed _clck, _clsk, CLID to record anonymized session replays and heatmaps so I can spot where articles are hard to read or tools break. No keystrokes in form fields are recorded.
    Opt out: Clarity opt-out page or block clarity.ms.

No advertising cookies

This site runs no ad network, no retargeting pixel, no affiliate tracker. Nothing you do here is sold, shared, or sent to advertisers.

Third-party fonts

Google Fonts is loaded from Google's CDN (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). Google may log your IP address per its policies. If you block third-party requests, the site falls back to your system fonts — it stays fully readable.

How to clear cookies

Every browser lets you view and delete cookies per site. Shortcuts:

  • Chrome / Edge: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data → See all site data → search "idahobees.com"
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Manage Data → search "idahobees.com"
